The United Kingdom started a National Lottery on the 19th November 1994

The Lottery started with a £1.00 ticket offering you a 1 in 14,000,000 chance of winning by guessing the 6 correct numbers out of 49. The first Lottery received national coverage with a reported jackpot of 7 million Pounds. The first draw saw 7 jackpot winners receiving approximately £800,000 each.

In its first year of Operation, 257 million pounds went to good causes
