1976 New Intercity Train was Ran the West Route Service at speeds up to 125mph.

Britains Intercity high-speed train (HST) service launched.

London to Bristol and Cardiff with the plan to roll it out to other cities.

2 power cars producing 2 X 2,250 HP delivery a speed of 125 mph, with top speed recorded at 140mph. At the time the train was one of the fastest diesel-powered trains in the world. Other countries use electric.

Hot food served, microwaves on board an aircraft-style comfy seating inside. Also modern for its time where electrically locked doors and interior sliding doors.
