Celebrating Zandra Rhodes’ Birthday ’40

1940 Zandra Rhodes was born on this day, Fashion Designer

Rhodes, founded The Fashion & Textile Museum, in London. She designed garments for Princess Diana, Freddie Mercury and Brian May from Queen. She pushed London to be one of the front-runners of fashion in the 1970s and put her mark as being one of the creative forces on Punk Fashion. She was well known for her evening wear. She opened a clothing boutique on the Fulham Road in 1968. She had graduated from the Medway College of Art and the Royal College of Art. She created printed fabric designs and later went onto developing household textiles and linens.
