In 1066, after the death of Edward the Confessor, Edgar Ætheling on the 15th of October of that year was elected King of England but was actually never crowned, the Normans took control of England before that event could take place.
William met the English leaders at Berkhamsted, including Edgar, The Crown of England eventually fell to William.
Edgar a few years on escaped to Scotland and ran several military campaigns against William.
Edgar dies in 1126, at the age of 75, the last living member of the Anglo-Saxon Royalty
