This is a box set celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Pretty Things’ seminal album SF Sorrow which was a huge influence on the punk movement. The box set includes the original album on vinyl a 180-gram audiophile pressing and a booklet with rare photos and essays. The album sold moderately well and received critical acclaim.

The Pretty Things are truly an iconic 1st wave R&B band with a legacy that has influenced generations of musicians across genres. With their final live tour and studio album coinciding with the 55th anniversary of the band The Pretty Things have created a special treat for their fans with the S. F. Sorrow deluxe vinyl box set. This box set is a celebration of their seminal 1968 rock opera album which has been hailed as one of the defining records of the Psychedelic era standing favourable comparison with Sgt Pepper and Piper At The Gates Of Dawn.

The box set is packed with four 12 LPs four rare European 60s picture sleeve 7 singles and handwritten recollections from Phil May Dick Taylor Jon Povey & Wally Waller on individually signed inserts. The first two LPs feature the mono and stereo versions of the classic album cut from the original Abbey Road master tapes packaged in facsimile versions of the original UK gatefold and USA ‘Tombstone’ sleeves respectively. The third and fourth LPs are a 2LP set of the 1998 Live at Abbey Road anniversary recording with David Gilmour and Arthur Brown on vinyl for the very first time. The box set is beautifully crafted with excellent sound quality and the included picture sleeve singles offer a rare treat for fans of the band.

The timing of the release of this box set is perfect coinciding with the band’s final and extensive UK & European tour which includes a performance of S. F. Sorrow in full at the Isle of Wight Festival and ends at a farewell show in London at Indigo at the O2 with an impressive supporting line-up of David Gilmour Van Morrison and Bill Nighy. Overall the S. F. Sorrow deluxe vinyl box set is a must-have for fans of The Pretty Things and anyone who appreciates the creativity and innovation of 60s psychedelic rock.
