1969 people all over the earth were watching the Americans trying to win the race to be the first man on the moon.
Apollo 11 was launched into space on a Saturn V SA-506 rocket from Cape Kennedy with the hope that they would be the first men to land on the moon. Their journey took a few days. Commander Neil Armstrong and Pilot Buzz Aldrin landed the lunar module “Eagle” on the moon on the 20th of July.
